April 8, 2025: You will Die in Your Sin

"I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am he, you will indeed die in your sins."  - John 8:24

A Startling Statement

Let’s be honest: No one likes to talk about sin anymore. It’s uncomfortable. It sounds too harsh, too judgmental, too old-fashioned. But then comes Jesus—loving, gentle, compassionate Jesus—and He says something so shocking, so raw:
“You will die in your sin.”

This is not a curse. This is not condemnation. This is a warning. A loving one. A wake-up call from the One who came not to condemn, but to save.

Why This Matters

Sin is not just a mistake. It’s not a habit we’re trying to break.
Sin is separation.
It separates us from God, from ourselves, from one another. When Jesus says, “You will die in your sin,” He is pointing to the eternal consequence of living without repentance, without surrender, and without believing in Him.

The Root Problem: Unbelief

Jesus doesn’t say you’ll die because you weren’t perfect.
He says you’ll die in your sin because you refused to believe that He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

This belief is not just intellectual agreement—it is a surrender to who Jesus is:

·        The Son of God

·        The Savior of sinners

·        The Lord of your life

Without this faith, even our best intentions can't rescue us.

What It Means to “Die in Sin”

To die in your sin is to die:

·        Unforgiven

·        Unreconciled

·        Unprepared to meet God

This is the greatest tragedy of life—not death itself, but dying without grace.

But There Is Hope

The same Jesus who warned about dying in sin also said,

“I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live.” (John 11:25)

He did not leave us in the dark. He took our sin upon Himself, so that no one has to die in it.
He invites us to:

·        Repent – turn away from sin

·        Believe – trust in Him fully

·        Live – now and forever, in His grace

Your Turn

This is not just a message for “bad people.”
It’s for all of us.

Ask yourself:

·        Am I making peace with sin?

·        Do I truly believe in Jesus—not just in my mind, but in my heart and choices?

·        If I were to die tonight, would I die in my sin… or in His mercy?

A Prayer to Begin Again

"Lord Jesus, I believe that You are the Son of God. I confess my sins. I turn away from the life that leads me away from You. Wash me in Your mercy. Help me to live each day in Your truth, so that when my time comes, I may die not in sin, but in Your love. Amen."

Final Thought

The goal of this message is not fear—but freedom.
Don’t wait for tomorrow. The time to come home to God is now.
Because the only thing worse than dying… is dying without Christ.
