April 11, 2025: When Words Stir Stones
“They picked up stones again to stone him.” (John 10:31)
Jesus stood
before a crowd ready to condemn Him. Not for breaking a law, not for harming
anyone—but for revealing the truth: that He and the Father are one.
Instead of
defending Himself with long arguments, Jesus pointed to something undeniable:
“Even
though you do not believe me, believe the works...” (John 10:38)
He says: Look at what
I’ve done. Look at the blind who now see, the lame who walk, the hearts that
have turned back to God. If you can’t yet believe my words—let my works guide
your faith.
A Story: Faith That Shines in Action
Let me share
a true story of a woman named Mary, a retired school teacher in her
seventies. She lived in a small town and wasn’t known for preaching or public
ministry. But what she did was care—for everyone.
Every
morning, she would cook extra food and deliver it to elderly neighbors. She
offered tutoring to struggling children. When someone in the village was sick,
she would quietly visit with soup, prayer, and presence.
One day,
someone asked her neighbor, who wasn’t a believer, “Do you go to church?”
The man
replied, “I don’t go to church much… but I believe in God—because of Mary.”
That’s the
power of a life that testifies. Mary didn’t
try to convince anyone with doctrine. Her works spoke. Her quiet
faith, lived out in daily service, opened hearts more than any sermon.
What Does This Mean for Us?
1. Your Life is a Message
Jesus invites
us to be living signs of God’s love. Even when people reject religion or
Scripture, they can’t ignore love in action.
2. Remain Calm in Criticism
Like Jesus,
you might face resistance when standing for truth. You may not win every
argument—but your patient, humble life will shine brighter than debate.
3. Believe the Works Around You
Sometimes our
faith falters because we forget to see God at work. Pause today. Look back.
What has God done in your life recently that proves His presence?
“And
many believed in Him there.” (John 10:42)
Jesus didn’t
chase the crowds. He withdrew—and it was there, in the quiet, that hearts began
to believe.
May your
life, like Mary’s, become a testimony. And when words fail, let your works
reflect the One who lives in you.
