Ravi had always dreamed of becoming a football player. He practiced tirelessly, hoping to secure a spot on his school team. But when the final list was announced, his name wasn’t on it. Crushed and humiliated, he felt like a failure. However, rather than giving up, Ravi used the rejection as motivation. He trained harder, refining his skills. The next year, he not only made the team but became the captain, leading them to victory in the state championship. What once felt like rejection turned out to be a stepping stone to success.

Life has a way of making us feel rejected at times. Perhaps you’ve experienced moments when you felt overlooked, unappreciated, or even cast aside. But what if I told you that rejection could be the very thing that positions you for greatness?

The phrase “the rejected stone became the cornerstone” is found in Psalm 118:22 and is later quoted in the New Testament. It speaks of Jesus Christ, who was rejected by many but ultimately became the foundation of salvation. Yet, this truth extends beyond Christ—it applies to our lives as well.

The Power of Rejection

Rejection is painful. It can come from people we love, opportunities we desperately wanted, or dreams we’ve held onto for years. However, rejection is not the end of the story—it is often the beginning of a transformation. The stone that builders reject may not fit their plans, but it fits perfectly into God’s divine purpose.

Biblical Examples of Rejected Stones

·        Joseph: His brothers rejected him, selling him into slavery, but God raised him up to become the governor of Egypt, saving many lives.

·        David: Overlooked by his own family, he was chosen by God to be the king of Israel.

·        Jesus: Though rejected and crucified, He became the Savior of the world, the cornerstone of our faith.

Finding Hope in Rejection

If you feel rejected, take heart. God sees your worth. That job you didn’t get, the relationship that failed, the dreams that seem delayed—none of it is wasted. God is positioning you for something greater. Just as a cornerstone holds a building together, He is shaping you into something strong and unshakable.

Embracing Your Purpose

Instead of dwelling on rejection, ask God how He wants to use it for His glory. The very things that seem like setbacks are often setups for something greater. Trust in His plan, keep your faith strong, and remember: you are not forgotten.

The world may reject you, but in God’s hands, you are a cornerstone in His divine masterpiece.
