February 26, 2025: Practise Inclusivity, not Exclusivity!

 The disciples were troubled. They saw someone casting out demons in Yesu’s name, but he was not part of their group. Their instinct was to stop him. But Yesu replied: "Do not stop him. For no one who does a mighty work in my name will be able soon afterward to speak evil of me. For the one who is not against us is for us." (Mark 9:39-40)

Often, we fall into the trap of exclusivity, drawing boundaries where Christ has called us to build bridges. We assume that only those within our circles can truly work for God. But Yesu reminds us that His kingdom is greater than our human divisions.

A Modern Encounter

A missionary priest saw some volunteers feeding the poor and caring for the sick. Curious, he asked, "Are you part of a Christian service organization?"

A young woman replied, "We do not belong to a specific church, but we believe in Yesu and His love."

The priest recalled Yesu’s words. These people, though not part of his church, were living out the Gospel. That day, he learned that God’s work is not confined to familiar spaces.

Embracing Unity in Christ

We must make wise decisions but avoid rigid exclusivity. If someone bears good fruit in Christ’s name, we should rejoice. Instead of asking whether they belong to our group, we should ask: Are they bringing others closer to God?

Let us recognize God’s work beyond our expectations and foster unity in His name.

शिष्यों को चिंता हुई। उन्होंने किसी को येसु के नाम से दुष्ट आत्माओं को निकालते देखा, लेकिन वह उनके समूह का हिस्सा नहीं था। उनकी प्रवृत्ति उसे रोकने की थी। लेकिन येसु ने उत्तर दिया: "उसे मत रोको। क्योंकि जो मेरे नाम से सामर्थ्य के कार्य करता है, वह शीघ्र ही मेरे विरुद्ध बुरा नहीं बोलेगा। क्योंकि जो हमारे विरुद्ध नहीं है, वह हमारे पक्ष में है।" (मरकुस 9:39-40)

अक्सर, हम अनन्यतावाद के जाल में फँस जाते हैं, सीमाएँ खींचते हैं जहाँ मसीह ने हमें पुल बनाने के लिए बुलाया है। हम मानते हैं कि केवल हमारे दायरे में रहने वाले ही वास्तव में परमेश्वर के लिए कार्य कर सकते हैं। लेकिन येसु हमें याद दिलाते हैं कि उनका राज्य हमारी मानव निर्मित विभाजनों से बड़ा है।

एक आधुनिक अनुभव

एक मिशनरी पुरोहित ने कुछ स्वयंसेवकों को गरीबों को भोजन कराते और बीमारों की देखभाल करते देखा। उत्सुकतावश, उन्होंने पूछा, "क्या आप किसी ईसाई सेवा संगठन से जुड़े हैं?"

एक युवती ने उत्तर दिया, "हम किसी विशेष चर्च से संबंधित नहीं हैं, लेकिन हम येसु और उनके प्रेम में विश्वास करते हैं।"

पुरोहित ने येसु के वचनों को याद किया। ये लोग, भले ही उनकी कलीसिया का हिस्सा न हों, सुसमाचार को जी रहे थे। उस दिन, उन्होंने सीखा कि परमेश्वर का कार्य केवल परिचित स्थानों तक सीमित नहीं है।

मसीह में एकता को अपनाना

हमें विवेकपूर्ण निर्णय लेना चाहिए लेकिन कठोर अनन्यतावाद से बचना चाहिए। यदि कोई मसीह के नाम में अच्छे फल ला रहा है, तो हमें आनन्दित होना चाहिए। हमें यह पूछने के बजाय कि वे हमारे समूह से हैं या नहीं, यह पूछना चाहिए: क्या वे दूसरों को परमेश्वर के करीब ला रहे हैं?

हम परमेश्वर के कार्य को अपनी अपेक्षाओं से परे पहचानें और उनके नाम में एकता को बढ़ावा दें।

• आप सुसमाचार के प्रति निष्ठावान रहते हुए एकता को कैसे बढ़ावा दे सकते हैं?
• आपने अप्रत्याशित स्थानों में परमेश्वर का कार्य कहाँ देखा है?
