February 25, 2025: Do you think that you possess the True Greatness?

In a world that prizes achievement and recognition, Jesus' words in Mark 9:35 challenge our values: "If anyone would be first, he must be last of all and servant of all." True greatness is not about power but about self-giving love.

A Lesson in True Greatness

A well-known story illustrates this principle. During a banquet, a wealthy businessman noticed a quiet janitor staying late to ensure everything was clean. When asked why he worked so hard, the janitor simply replied, "I serve because it brings me joy." Inspired, the businessman began serving at a local shelter and found unexpected fulfillment.

The Call to Servanthood

Jesus modeled this lifestyle, washing His disciples’ feet (John 13:12-17) and ultimately sacrificing His life for others. He calls us to do the same—in our families, workplaces and communities:

• At Home: A parent’s sacrifices for their child embody servant leadership.
• At Work: True leaders empower others rather than seeking control.
• In the Community: Volunteering and helping those in need reflect Christ’s love.

The Reward of Serving

Though servanthood requires humility, it brings deep joy and fulfillment. Jesus assures us that those who humble themselves will be exalted (Matthew 23:12). Serving deepens our relationship with Christ, who came not to be served, but to serve (Mark 10:45).

Greatness is not in worldly status but in a life poured out for others. May we strive not for human recognition but to hear, "Well done, good and faithful servant."

एक ऐसी दुनिया में जहाँ उपलब्धियों और पहचान को प्राथमिकता दी जाती है, यीशु के शब्द मरकुस 9:35 हमारे मूल्यों को चुनौती देते हैं: "यदि कोई प्रथम बनना चाहता है, तो उसे सबके अंतिम और सबका सेवक बनना चाहिए।" सच्ची महानता शक्ति में नहीं, बल्कि आत्म-समर्पित प्रेम में निहित है।

सच्ची महानता का एक पाठ

एक प्रसिद्ध कहानी इस सिद्धांत को दर्शाती है। एक भोज के दौरान, एक धनी व्यापारी ने देखा कि एक शांत स्वभाव वाला सफाईकर्मी देर तक रुका रहा ताकि सब कुछ साफ-सुथरा रहे। जब उससे पूछा गया कि वह इतनी मेहनत क्यों करता है, तो उसने सरलता से उत्तर दिया, "मैं सेवा करता हूँ क्योंकि इससे मुझे आनंद मिलता है।" इससे प्रेरित होकर, व्यापारी ने एक स्थानीय आश्रय में सेवा करना शुरू किया और उसे अप्रत्याशित संतोष मिला।

सेवकाई का आह्वान

यीशु ने इस जीवनशैली को स्वयं अपनाया, अपने शिष्यों के पैर धोए (यूहन्ना 13:12-17) और अंततः दूसरों के लिए अपना जीवन बलिदान कर दिया। वह हमें भी इसी मार्ग पर चलने के लिए बुलाते हैं—हमारे परिवारों, कार्यस्थलों और समुदायों में:

• घर पर: माता-पिता का अपने बच्चों के लिए त्याग सेवक नेतृत्व को दर्शाता है।
• कार्यस्थल में: सच्चे नेता दूसरों को सशक्त बनाते हैं, न कि केवल नियंत्रण चाहते हैं।
• समुदाय में: स्वयंसेवा और जरूरतमंदों की मदद करना मसीह के प्रेम को प्रतिबिंबित करता है।

सेवा का प्रतिफल

यद्यपि सेवकाई के लिए विनम्रता की आवश्यकता होती है, यह गहरा आनंद और संतोष प्रदान करती है। यीशु हमें आश्वासन देते हैं कि जो स्वयं को दीन करेगा, उसे महान किया जाएगा (मत्ती 23:12)। सेवा हमारे मसीह के साथ संबंध को गहरा करती है, जो सेवा करने के लिए आया, न कि सेवा कराने के लिए (मरकुस 10:45)।

महानता सांसारिक स्थिति में नहीं, बल्कि दूसरों के लिए समर्पित जीवन में है। हम मानवीय पहचान की लालसा के बजाय यह सुनने के लिए प्रयास करें, "शाबाश, अच्छे और विश्वासयोग्य सेवक।"
