March 6, 2025: Take up the Cross Daily
Jesus’ words in Luke 9:23 call us to true discipleship. Following Him is not just about believing but about surrendering ourselves completely—our desires, comforts, and even our struggles—so that we may live as He did.
What Does it Mean to Take up the Cross?
In Jesus’ time, the cross symbolized suffering, sacrifice, and total submission to God’s will. To take up our Cross daily means:
- Denying
Ourselves –
Letting go of selfish ambitions, pride, and worldly desires.
- Embracing
Challenges –
Facing trials with faith, just as Jesus endured suffering for our sake.
- Living
for Christ –
Making choices that reflect His love, truth, and righteousness.
In a small village, there was a man named Ramesh
who attended church regularly but lived only for himself. One day, his pastor
said, "If you truly want to follow Christ, deny yourself and serve
others."
Ramesh took these words to heart. He realized that
following Jesus was not just about praying but about living like Him. He
started helping the poor, forgiving those who hurt him, and being patient with
his family. It was not easy—sometimes he had to sacrifice his time, ego, and
comfort—but he found a deeper peace and joy.
Jesus calls us to take up our cross daily,
surrendering everything to Him. It is a call to love, serve, and trust Him even
in suffering. Are we willing to walk in His footsteps?
