March 31, 2025: Faith that Heals

A father sat beside his son's hospital bed, watching helplessly as his condition worsened. The doctors had done all they could, but the situation looked bleak. Desperate, the father turned to prayer, asking God for a miracle. Though he saw no immediate change, he felt a deep assurance in his heart—God had heard him. The next morning, to everyone's amazement, his son showed remarkable improvement. The doctors called it a medical mystery, but the father knew it was faith in God’s power at work.

This real-life scenario mirrors the powerful story of the royal official in John 4:43-54, whose unwavering faith in Jesus led to his son’s miraculous healing. It reminds us that true faith is believing in God’s word even before we see the results.

The Royal Official’s Faith

When Jesus arrives in Galilee, a royal official approaches Him, pleading for the healing of his dying son. He begs, “Sir, come down before my child dies.” (John 4:49). Instead of going with him, Jesus simply says, “Go, your son will live.” (John 4:50). The man takes Jesus at His word and departs in faith. On his way home, he learns that his son was healed at the very moment Jesus spoke.

Lessons from the Royal Official’s Faith

  1. Faith is Trusting in Jesus’ Word
    The official did not need to see the miracle to believe; he trusted in Jesus’ promise. Likewise, we are called to believe in God’s word, even when we don’t see immediate answers.
  2. Faith Requires Action
    The official acted on Jesus’ words, leaving without any visible proof of his son’s healing. True faith is not passive; it moves forward, trusting in God’s promises.
  3. God’s Timing is Perfect
    The healing took place at the exact moment Jesus spoke. Often, we worry about when and how God will answer our prayers, but His timing is always precise and perfect.
  4. Faith Leads to Deeper Conversion
    When the official saw his son was healed, he and his whole household believed in Jesus. Our faith journey doesn’t just impact us—it influences those around us.
